Ella Burke
Ella’s practice deals with issues of communal space and non-identity. She has created a body of work inflating different plastic spheres, highlighting issues of private vs public, human consumption of space, and society’s relation to its physical surroundings. ‘I Am Not Content’ deals with the individual in todays society, and the impossibility of being really isolated, alone. Do we make decisions independently, or do we exist as a mono culture, thinking and acting in unison?
Ella Burke is currently studying for an M.A. in sculpture at N.C.A.D. In 2009 she won the Irish Museum of Contemporary Art’s Student Residency Award, and has exhibited at the Hugh Lane, (Finalist in TSB Student Art Award 2007) and at the Turn Gallery in Berlin, (October 2009.) She is also a member of the successful art collaboration Deysed, who performed at the Project Arts Centre in July. Burke will be partaking in the ‘Bouvard and Pecuchet’ exhibition at the LightHouse Cinema later this month.
