Claudia Boese
Claudia is keen to investigate the thoughts and views found in places and subjects framed as defined by their location or borders (both real and imagined) and the social and psychological effects of this contextualisation.
In Berlin, Rügen, Ireland, Poland and Suffolk she has compared the actual appearance of locations with the representations of these places in order to test the limits of observation and of a subject, moving between representational, optical and decorative modes. In particular she have engaged with border regions and their cultural histories.
In her paintings she is not depicting inspirations but utilizing this experience to engage with the reality of the painting itself.
Claudia studied painting both at Central St. Martins School of Art and Design and the Royal Academy Schools in London, established an exhibition record, won commissions, residencies and prizes.
