Conor Mahon
Conor Mahon, is an artist concentrating in watercolour, pen and ink, and mixed media works on paper. His medium of choice is the micron pen and he uses them exhaustively to describe the the world he conceptualizes. The environment he grew up in, the Burren in Co. Clare has always been an inspiration. His illustrative style captures the mystic of this barren landscape in his unique approach, documenting it in his unique way. The stark beauty in its black, white and grey’s, in compassing the rock, sea and sky of his environment has determined his use of colour often in just black in white, but just as in the burren which can blast into bloom or dramatically change as the sun bursts through, this work can surprise with a sudden blast of colour. The work is rich in detail but by by constraining the use of colour has managed to keep the essence of its simplicity.

16.4.1 is a mixed media exhibition by 16 artists engaged in a situation specific collective at PLANE / SITE Galleries – Lad Lane (off Baggot Street), Dublin 2. Curated by Fionnuala Mahon and Sharon Murphy. It opens Friday the 4th of December and continues to the 20th of December 2009.
